MMA Action Friday and Saturday: A Huge Weekend for KC Fight Club!

What other training gym can say it has SEVEN fighters in THREE different promotions in ONE weekend? We did the legwork and can provide the answer without hesitation: NONE. The duffle bags of gear are flying out of the Deerfield Beach, Florida, facility, leaving sparing partners to shadowbox by their lonesomes and chilled cans of Kill Cliff beverages to sit in wait in refrigerators for the fighters to return.

Former Cage Warrior welterweight champ, Ireland-born KCFC fighter “The Future” Garry, 11-0, takes on San Diego’s Rodriguez, 17-3, the No. 13 welterweight and a fan favorite. Garry could bounce into the top 15 but he told TalkSPORT this week he won’t let “the UFC rush me.”

"I hate the fact that fighters sometimes get labelled with, ‘He hasn’t earned his title shot, he hasn’t earned his spot.’ So, I never want anyone to be able to label me with that.

"To prevent that, I want to fight six guys in the top 15. I want to do two between 10 and 15. I want to do two between five and 10. And I want to do two between one and five before I get the title shot.

“That’s six fights against the elite of the elite to prove myself to the fans, to the organization, to anyone who has any doubts that I am good enough to do what I say I want to do.”

That first chance comes Saturday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.

The heavyweight fight of the night finds KCFC’s Sherman, 16-11-0, facing off against Williams, 8-1-0. With a win, Sherman could find himself in the top 10 of the division. Williams has battled his way through Titan FC and LFA to get to the UFC, debuting in 2021.

Mississippi native Sherman made his pro debut in 2019, quickly amassing a 10-2 record and in three years signed with UFC. His first three fights didn’t go so well—all losses—but something kicked in (and it wasn’t his head) in 2019 and he started putting some KOs on the board. He’s streaky—he’s lost his last two fights—but his powerful strikes and skills on the floor can take him places.

You can see Ian Machado Garry and Chase Sherman in UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Almeida Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+; prelims begin at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Burmese-American and KCFC fighter Thang is the bantamweight attraction of the All In Combat promotion. “The Dragon” is 4-2 in various leagues, coming off a win in April in the LFA. He’ll make his All In Combat debut Saturday at the Castine Center in Mandeville, Louisiana

Note: Tial Thang is in the All In Combat 2 promotion will not be televised, as per an email from the promotion.

KCFC products Angel Alvarez, Tyler Ray, Marques Jackson, and Adi Alic tear up the United Fight League 2 event Saturday at 4 p.m. ET; you can see it on Rumble. Or catch it live at the Memphis Sports & Events Center in Tennessee.
